Creating a Marketing Budget
is as Easy as 1-2-3!

Have you ever found yourself guessing at how much money to spend on marketing your business?
Midwest Communications makes creating a marketing budget as easy as 1-2-3!

1. Project your up coming year’s gross sales. Take 12% of your gross sales and subtract the amount of your rent. The amount left should be your marketing budget. We call this the Keystone Formula.

Gross Sales:
%
Rent:
Marketing Budget:

2. Now that you have a number to budget, you’ll want your marketing to grow your business and increase sales. So divide it up to accomplish your marketing goals.

Marketing Budget:
Use % to Build Your Brand
Use % for Special Events/Sales
Use % for Unexpected Opportunities
Use % for Fourth Quarter Slush

3. Now you want to allocate that budget into different months throughout the year. Using your business’ industry average for the percentage of sales per month, (or better yet, your real percentage of sales per month)—allocate the Build Your Brand budget throughout the year.

Your Midwest Account Executive has the industry averages for your business. Next, plan your Special Event and Sales. And use your Unexpected Opportunities budget and Fourth Quarter Slush to give you that extra shot in the arm.

That’s all there is to it!
